Freud's Family

*Our next project explores the life of the famous psychologist, Sigmund Freud. From my research on his family background, I found out about his unbelievably surprising family tree (he is younger than his nephew!!!). Of all the 8 children in the family, he is the first, and most beloved by his mother (from this, he developed a close maternal relationship). He is born a child prodigy, meaning his intelligence level reveals at a surprisingly early stage of life (he read Shakespeare's work at 8 years old!!!). At the age of 4 he experienced a huge contrast of environment, when his family left the calm, mountainous hometown to the metropolitan Vienna, where he spent the rest of his life there. All of these factors should be drawn into consideration when studying about his thinking patterns and methods later on.
*What's new to me is that the death of his father had made a great impact on Freud's life. It's even more surpirsed to find out that he actually reached the stage in which he imagined that his brother was his father!

what i dont understand is how the love given my freud's mother could lead him to establish theories on women. but i do think that freud's childhood greatly influenced him; especially that he had many step mothers.

Freud's family is twisted. Hahaha. However, Freud is the most loved. If Freud was the least loved, he might have accomplished nothing. Family influences are an important factor in a child's development to become a successful adult.

It's interesting to hear how different and weird his family was. Maybe his change in environment when he was 4 made him the way he was. Good info.

Sigmund Freud is indeed a very interesting person to study about. I don't really understand why he's younger than his nephew, though, but he's a true genius, I think. To read Shakespeare's at the age so young, he's a borned genius. Life in family must also have impact on his thought and idea as well, a lot of influence since that his father's death led him to write The Interpetation of Dreams which is one of the most famous book he published, the most famous maybe, but really nice summary. ^^

His family background was surely amazing and weird. Living in this kind of enviroment since he was very little surely effect his way of thinking especially when he was born a child prodigy. Because he was a genius, his ability to think and analyze surpass those of his age and that might be enough to altered his method of thinking, especailly when he had to live in this kind of strage family since he was a child.
